Sunday is Mother's Day

Good morning to all of our beloved friends and clients and in case you are living under the proverbial rock, this Sunday is Mother's Day.

That's right, our feeble attempt to pay homage to that women in your life who gave you your life. I know what you're thinking, I love Mom and I always make sure that on her special day I treat her like a queen. Really, you think your card and a box of chocolates can somehow say thanks for carrying me for nine months, wiping your runny nose and bum while whispering in your ear that you are the most important thing in the world can truly be translated into sincere appreciation.

Of course it can't but that's what makes Mothers such bad asses in the first place, they don't even care about all of that stuff, they just did it all for the sake of Love. No, what Mom really wants is you, that's right, your love, your attention and most of all your hugs that will deliver her the dose of Mom Power she so desperately needs. She also would like to drink her wine without judgment or binge watch a little Netflix without someone calling her name out to where your favorite socks have gone. And whether she journeys out every day into the "salt mines" of the world or manages a household where the employees can't seem to master the one task of putting down the toilet seat she seems to rock it out with graceful ease.

So while we will never be able to properly thank these selfless Goddesses, we can remind her of just how indebted we are to them. And while no plan is perfect, I have come up with a few ideas to shower these noble creatures with our gratitude, they are listed below.

1 Forget about breakfast in bed, let this poor women sleep and if that means until 1:00 PM, then so be it and be quiet for the love of Cod

2 Not only make her a lovely meal (perhaps with some gorgeous Seafood) but clean up afterwards and I mean clean up like your Harvey Keitel (Mr. Wolf) in Pulp Fiction...that clean.

3 Make sure there is enough of her Wine in the house that if she decides to take a bath in it, there would still be enough left to get her "Mom Buzz" on.

4 Finally, never miss an opportunity to let her know just how much of a Rock Star she is by not only showing but by telling her how much you Love her. And bolster those sentiments with the most powerful hugs you can deliver.

And to those men who hold on to the belief that the Mother of your children isn't technically their Mom just know that you are dead wrong and you will "technically" be killed for this thought. Today's Featured Recipes Created With Love for You...

Barbecued Tuna with a Green Onion Cilantro Dressing Serves 4 What is not to like about this gorgeous fish that has been described by a Half-Lebanese Fishmonger as "Meat with Feet," nothing. It has it all but for the love of Artisanal Cheeses, don't overcook it or I'll kick you right in the Bass with my Meatless foot.

Ingredients For the Tuna 4 Sushi Grade Tuna steaks 1 inch thick 6 to 8 ounces each...I like my Tuna Rare should you like yours well-done please find a recipe that uses a pottery kiln. Olive oil for brushing

For the Marinade ¼ cup olive oil 2 tablespoons sherry vinegar 1 tablespoon honey 1 good pinch of crushed red pepper flakes ½ teaspoon of hot paprika 2 cloves of garlic crushed and minced Salt and Pepper For the Green Onion Cilantro Dressing 1 cup cilantro leaves ½ cup olive oil The juice of 1 lime about 2 tablespoons 2 dashes of Worcestershire sauce 2 cloves of garlic chopped 2 scallions (green onions), roughly chopped ¼ teaspoon of ground cumin Salt and Pepper

How it's done In a shallow bowl or pie plate, whisk together all of the ingredients of the marinade; add the tuna steaks and turn to coat and cover with plastic wrap to let marinate at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Meanwhile make the Green Onion Cilantro Dressing by combining all of the ingredients in a food processor and "whizz" until smooth; season to taste with salt and pepper and set aside.

Prepare your charcoal or preheat your gas grill to high heat. When the grill is hot, sear the steaks for about 3 minutes per side for rare and 5 minutes per side for medium.

If you like your Tuna well done, don't tell me.

To serve, place the steaks on your serving platter and drizzle over the dressing.

Garnish with lemon wedges and get ready to do your "Meat Without Feet" happy dance.

Grilled Middle Eastern Monkfish Kebobs Serves 4 How did Monkfish get its name is a very common question. Now while this is not documented, many fishmongers believe that this mild firm and delectable fish got its name when the first fishermen tasted this fish and declared "Oh my Cod! This is Delicious!" This holy revelation then morphed into the Monkfish...or something like that.

Ingredients 1½ to 2 pounds of Monkfish cut into 1½ inch chunks...this can be lovingly done by a Metro Seafood Specialist with great pride and pleasure. Salt and Pepper Wooden skewers soaked in cold water for 30 minutes Lemon wedges for serving

For the Marinade 1 large pinch saffron 2 tablespoons boiling water 1 cup Lebneh or Greek Style Yogurt 2 tablespoons of olive oil 2 really good pinches of kosher salt and a pinch of black pepper ½ teaspoon ground coriander ¼ teaspoon ground turmeric 1 good pinch crushed red pepper flakes 2 cloves of garlic minced fine 1 tablespoon of fresh chopped mint leaves

How it's done In a glass bowl, large enough to hold the fish, soak the saffron in the boiling water and let it bloom until vibrant orange, 5 minutes.

Whisk in the marinade ingredients and adjust salt and pepper seasoning if necessary.

Place the Monkfish in the marinade and toss to coat well; cover with plastic wrap and let marinate at room temperature for 20 to 30 minutes.

Preheat your gas grill to medium high heat.

Remove the fish from the marinade and thread onto the wooden skewers.

On well-oiled grates cook the Monkfish skewers for 4 minutes per side or until just opaque when fork tested.

To serve, transfer the skewers to a serving platter and sprinkle over some roughly chopped mint leaves.

Garnish with lemon wedges and get ready to be "Codsmacked" with a savory testimony of your very own.
